Filtering my AWS server

I have an AWS machine running on an AWS Linux instance on a t2.micro instance with 750 free hours.

So my question is if AWS have any way to control the amount of accesses allowed per minute.

In case that AWS doesn't have any way, I also would like to ask about references and tips in order to find and learn the best option to protect it.

Doing some research, that's what I've found:

  1. Using netfilter/iptables.

  2. Using apache access Logs and coding some php script to count the amount of times a user logged in a certain period of time.

Thanks in advice.
