setting up elastic search indexing and AWS

I'm trying to get elastic search set up on AWS and I am currently doing everything I need to be doing, its just very slow to index all the documents I need to index. I've been messing with the settings to the extent that I can based on what I find on the internet but I still haven't found the answer as its still slow. Does anyone know what settings would be necessary to make elastic search index quickly?
