Elastic Beanstalk + nginx + php-fpm

Hoping you could shed some light on this subject. I've been trying for countless hours to get this trio to work together, however nothing I try seems to be working. I've tried many, many different tutorials both on Google and on Stack Overflow to no avail.

Is there anybody who could point me in the direction to getting them to work together please? The tutorials with hostmanager are outdated, and subsequently don't work. I'd be greatly appreciative, and will follow up with a post on my personal blog for others to benefit from.
