RDS Nighmare - Error restarting mysql: mysql process found dead. Attempt to

I scaled up one of my RDS instances, its been hours since its modifying. When i get to events i see this " Error restarting mysql: mysql process found dead. Attempt to restart failed."

I suspect it would ever start back again now, I am now trying to restore it in point of time, which still seems to be taking ages.
