Amazon Linux vs. Ubuntu for Meteor

I'm creating a Meteor app solely dependent on AWS (Amazon Web Services). In doing so, I'm staying far away from the usual Modulus.io for the app and Compose.io for the database.

I'm just having trouble picking the AMI (Amazon Machine Instance).

For a production Meteor app, which EC2 AMI is best for the app, and which is better for the database... Amazon Linux, or Ubuntu?

And more importantly, why?
