Deploy a private repo of git hub on AWS EC2 Ubuntu instance using chef cookbook

I am trying to deploy a private repository which is presently on github to AWS EC2 instances. I am playing around with this cookbook using vagrant. Things are not working accordingly. It's difficult to post all the error log here and makes this post messy.

Just wanted to check is there a better way to deploy private repo's on AWS EC2 or any other cloud services.

Suggestions will help me a lot.
